Free Scatter Plot Maker
Create scatter plots online. Paste X,Y data, add a trendline, and download for free.
How to Make a Scatter Plot (3 Steps)
- Paste X,Y pairs — one per line (e.g.
1.2,3.4) or tab-separated - Optionally toggle the trendline to show the linear relationship
- Save as PNG or PDF — no watermark added
How to Make a Scatter Plot in Excel
In Excel, select two columns of data, go to Insert → Charts → Scatter, and choose “Scatter with only Markers.” Right-click a data point and choose “Add Trendline” to show the linear fit. For quick online scatter plots without Excel, paste your data above.
How to Make a Scatter Plot in Google Sheets
In Google Sheets, enter your X values in column A and Y values in column B with headers. Select both columns, then click Insert → Chart. In the Chart Editor, set the chart type to “Scatter chart.” To add a trendline, click Customize → Series → check “Trendline.” You can also display the R² value to show how well the line fits. For faster results with no spreadsheet setup, paste your X,Y pairs directly into this tool.
What Does a Scatter Plot Show?
Scatter plots reveal the relationship (correlation) between two continuous variables. Points clustered along a diagonal indicate positive correlation; a downward slope indicates negative correlation. Random scatter indicates no linear relationship. The trendline shows the best-fit linear model.
FAQ
What format does the data need to be in?
Each row is one point. Use comma or tab to separate X and Y values. Example: 1.5,3.2
What is the trendline?
An ordinary least squares (OLS) linear regression line. It minimizes the sum of squared vertical distances from each point to the line.
